Players will be expected to provide a summary of their playing experience, and will be invited to audition for the Artistic Director. Players should be of at least AMEB Grade 8 or equivalent, and should be able to demonstrate excellent technical skills as well as a desire to make a regular commitment to rehearsals and concerts. Being a member of Chamber Strings of Melbourne will provide wonderful performance opportunities, as well as future tours.
Rehearsals are held on Sunday mornings 10am -1pm at the Drill Hall, 239 A’Beckett Street, Melbourne CBD during the academic year. The hall is also the home of the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra and is a well-equipped venue with excellent acoustics, air conditioning, a concert grand piano, music stands and excellent lighting etc.
The Hall is easily accessible by public transport, being just a few minutes walk from Melbourne Central Rail Station, Flagstaff Station, or is easily serviced by Elizabeth Street, La Trobe St or William Street Tram services. It is also a just a few minutes walk from the busy Victoria Market.
